About Oner
Oner Avara, co-founder of Lefthook, began amateur boxing in 2000 in his home country of Turkey. He came over to England shortly after to begin training with the Islington Boys Club in London. Oner boxed with the club for over 5 years and was a national semi-finalist at light-welter weight.
Business was Oner’s other passion, following his studies in commerce and economics. As a natural entrepreneur, Oner went on to set up and manage several successful businesses throughout North London, including Lefthook, which meant he could no longer dedicate the time to boxing as a hobby. Instead, his enthusiasm for the sport carried through into the business side of Lefthook, making it one of the most popular boxing clubs in the UK.
